I have twin 1997 Yamaha's 225 two strokes on my 27' Sailfish. They run great with now problems whatsoever in the 5 years I owned the boat. Someone suggested replacing the head gaskets as part of preventative maintenance. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,
VC

I did it on my old 1995 Yamaha 200 HP. The reason I did mine if I remember correctly was that there was some salt residue on the gasket edge. The job is no big deal to do and as stated in the previous post make sure you re-torque the heads after.

I would not do it unless you see some reason to, it does give you the chance to inspect the cylinder walls and heads.
