Replacing Icom 504 with a 506 model - Is the wiring plug in play or modifications needed? thanks!
 
I have a Icom 506 on my boat. Replaced a 504. Don't remember the details but you will have to change power connection. Also I have AIS receive that uses NMEA2000 buss to exchange data. NMEA2000 will get GPS data to the 506. It supports NMEA183 but I would recommend moving to the NMEA2000 if you can. What kind of chartplotter do you have? I'm all Garmin.
 
I have Raymarine e120's
 
I’m not familiar with that unit. Should connect with NEMA 183 or 2000. Not sure if plotter will show AIS targets.
