Replacing yamaha 704 dual control with newer style?

Time to replace the yamaha 704 dual controller on my 86 offshore. Can i replace it with a newer style 704?

Mechanically I suspect they are similar. My concern would be electrical at least with respect to connectors and pinning

I emailed sim. The only one they list on there site is the newer style one

Sim got back to me. And yes the newer mechanical control will work with the older yamaha engines
