I have a 1994 sailfish in ct. I am looking to repower it has 175hp Mercs . My question is what is the real world cost for a pair of 225 hp 2 or 4 strokes with rigging and any other extras that are unforseen and what kind of trade in could I expect. thanks

I would say you will need to budget $40K. In 02 I repowered my Marlin and it was around $36K total not including the trade. I believe I got around $5 or $6K on the trade, they were Yamaha 97 250's. I bet you would be lucky if you got $2 or 3K total for the 94's and thats if they are Yamahas. If they are Mercs, probably less.

I sold an '89 175 HP carbed Merc in 2005 on e-bay for $2,000.

In 06 I repowered my 89 Trophy pro with twin 200 hp 06 yamaha hpdi's. Keep in mind eveything has to be done over for the most part right down to the starter keys. My total cost was around 33,000.

Make sure your boat can handle twin 4 strokes due to the weight. I know that it would not work for me at the time.
