So I recently became the proud owner of a 2013 336. A bit of a distress sale because one of the 350 Yamahas has a blown power head and the other has a shot gearcase. Between the two I have the makings for one running motor with around 1300 hours total use. My options are to try and find a second used motor of equal age for around $10k and just use it. Or I’ll have to dump over $50k more than I already paid to have new reliable power. Interested in thoughts on Suzuki 350’s as I don’t think i Could or would buy the 350 Yamaha new given the age of the platform and the stigma surrounding them .
all opinions encouraged and valued.
Thanks David

Maybe too late, but i just spent a season on my 336 canyon with twin 350 suzuki duoprops. 450 hours without a hickup. Great on fuel and plenty fast.

Scott - I have a '08 336 Canyon with the original F350A Yamaha motors. Fingers crossed, but they are still running good. Have seriously considered the Suzi 350 duoprops as well. What year is your 336? Did you own the boat when it had the original Yam 350s on it? If so, what differences did you notice in hole shot, fuel economy and top speed between the Yams and the Suzi?

Sorry for the late reply. Mine is an '08 Canyon 336. I have run the boat with both F350As and the Suzuki 350 duoprops. No question that the F350s have more torque. But the Suzuki's have been painless and deliver incredible fuel economy. I run 70 miles to the Canyon, fish a full day and run home. Typical trip with running, trolling & fighting fish is 150 gallons. Hard to beat. If i push them hard, they get thirsty. They seem to want to run at 4300 which delivers 28 knots at around 1.10 NM / Gallon. If you run a little slower, same economy. If you push them past 4500, the economy falls off and they sound louder (they don't love it there).

By the way, I am loyal to the Yamaha brand, but not the 350s. My 306 has a pair of F250s that are flawless. That boat is in Jupiter FL. The 336 with the Suzukis is in Shinnecock. Different applications; both great setups.
