I am repowering my 226 Seafarer with an Evinrude 250 G1 this winter. Any advise on the correct propeller since my ability to test it will be difficult during the winter. Anyone have the same or similar combination?

is it a 1.85:1 or 1.71:1 gear ratio?

i can share my research on a 223 tournament with a 200 older carbed 2 stroke with 1.85:1 gearing (same hull as a seafarer but slightly lighter superstructure). i am in the same wintery boat so i did some internet research. a 17" 3 blade seems to be a safe bet for any 200-225 small block v6 1.85:1 two stroke outboard on that hull whether injected or carbed, yielding about 5500 rpm wot. the mirage plus and enertia are popular choices. for a 4 blade you need to go down to a 15".

i would guess with a 250 big block you could stick with a 17" 3 blade and and you might get close to 6000 rpm wot. or maybe a 19" will work, especially if you are at 1.71:1, but i notice generally there are lots of slightly used 19" props for sale on the hull truth and a number of ads looking to swap a near new 19 for a 17.

I have a Yamaha F 250 on a 228. I use the 15 1/2 x 17 both in Yam and Merc Mirage Plus. WOT =6000rpm. Not sure if the Yam prop will fit ur Suzi but the Mirage Plus works with a Flo Torque hub and Im pretty sure that one is available for your Suzi to make the conversion.

The hull is a 2001. It had a 225 HP Evinrude Ficht which had a 14 1/2 x 19 prop. It worked well with that combination although I will say a babied the motor and never ran WOT. It easily ran to 5000 RPM. I was going to start with the old prop and see how it does. Most people seem to suggest going to a 14 3/4 or 15 X17?

It is a 1.85 gear box.

Not sure if you ended up picking a prop yet or not, but just had my 1988 226 out yesterday with my newly mounted 2001 Evinrude DI 250. Running a 15.75 x 15 BRP Rebel prop with three guys, bimini up, 80 gallons of fuel or so, and a boatload of fishing gear, I was pulling 43.5 mph at 6000 rpm. I am slightly underpropped however, as I could easily exceed the max recommended WOT rpm of 6000. I chose the 15 pitch rebel as most folks had suggested it was an aggressive prop as it has quite a bit of blade area, aggressive cupping, and a larger diameter. This was with the engine mounted on the second highest mounting position (third bolt hole down).

I did not do extensive testing with my fuel flow, but it seemed like 3 mpg was a happy fuel economy, as I was computing 11 gph at 33 mph and 9 gph at 27 or so (both were nice cruise speeds). Frankly, I could probably go to the 17 pitch rebel, as I do not always run my boat with 3 guys and a full fuel load.
