Are you guys seeing much rust bleed around your thru-hulls and deck hardware? My boat has only been in the water for 4 seasons and I am seeing rust bleed around the scuppers and some of the grab rails. It cleans up easy enough with some Mary Kate but it appears that GW did a lousy job of bedding some of the hardware. Some of the hardware on my boat can be rebedded but most is inaccessable so I will have to live with it. :-|

Hi,
A few years ago I noticed the same thing and thought the same. A few more years have passed and I don't really notice it as much. Initially I thought it was from the wood in the fiberglass but I also noticed it some areas where wood was not present. After discussing with folks around the marina most do not have GWs, I believe it is from the stainless itself. Stainless will surface rust a bit above the water line. Look at your SS props at the end of the season, mine have areas that look like the first signs of rust, but clean right up with a metal cleaner like Borax or Noxon. Stainless below the water line is a no-no as it will be damaged. I just stay after the chrome (props, thru hulls, bow rail etc) and hit it with some wax after. Just something you have to stay on top of.
