Today I pulled my boat from the slip. washed her up and starting my off season prep. I enjoy living in the mountains but our boating season is short ,well compared to my native state of Florida. lol. Tonight we are expected to see lows in the upper 30s in the valleys and subfreezing temps above 5,000 feet. Fall is on the way and boating season is winding down. I am already looking forward to spring . lol.

I feel your pain!! I've got one more trip the end of October to South Carolina, then I'm done. Next outing will be the Keys in May, so I've got that to look forward to.

I'm at that point where I say "Hey it might get warm for a while. let's keep the boat in" and " Why the heck did I wait so long, it's freezing"

I’ll hope to be chasing striper into December. By us there are still a lot of boats on the water but it’s a different crew. No jet skis, casual kayaks, or paddle boarders in the way of everything but you do see the hardcore fishing kayak guys chasing stripers too. Their still something you watch for but for the better most part they know what their doing. That goes for most everyone else too. You still find crowds around schools but it’s an easier time.

I was hoping to get out this weekend (possibly last trip) but it was too windy. So for now the boat stays in for a few more weeks with the hopes I can use it next weekend.

I usually wait until my marina closes October 31, but I often regret it. it gets so darn cold so fast in November that it is not fun prepping for winter storage. Probably mid October for me this year.

I am fortunate to have the Gulf Stream 60 miles off the beach here in southeast North Carolina. It moderates our winter temps a bit and keep pelagic fishing going year round. Of course, it's damn cold running over 50-60 degree water for 55-60 miles before you get to the 74 degree stream, but, when you get there, it's like a mini tropical vacation for a few hours. I feel for you guys who have to pack it up for the year. Look on the bright side, though, you don't have to pay to gas up the boat for a few months!

I miss my boat but do not miss having to put it away for the winter.

For my coastal NC brothers , I would attempt to boat some in the winter. here in the mountains it's just not fun. no places to really go,no water front restaurants, and since I don't really freshwater fish much ,well that's off the table too.. a couple winters ago I saw Fontana Lake covered in ice lol.

my youngest is now in college at UCF in Orlando, Go Knight's, Charge on and he is in Marching Band. in October I am going down to visit him a couple of times and I am making one a work trip combo kind of thing. I don't like pulling her out when it's so cold like others here. it sucks washing a boat when it's 40 out lol. The Keys sound so good KY.
