Hi All

I am looking at buying a '98 Grady White sailfish 272 which currently has 200HP Johnson 2 Stroke engines on. If I get the
boat I will definitely replace the engines. I am thinking of getting the latest Yamaha 250hp 4 stoke engines x 2.

If any of you have the same boat could you please post what engines you have on it, fuel economy, whether you are happy with them and any other info that may be useful.

Thanks

I have a 95 272 Sailfish. It had OX66 200 hp motors. I replaced them with 200 hp HPDI motors because of the extra weight of the 4 strokes at the time. If you go to 4 strokes be sure to get the new lighter weight Yahama motors. The 282 was Grady's answer to the added weight of the 4 strokes. The 282 has a full running bottom where the 272 has a step up in the bottom. I love my HPDI motors. I get 1.8 mpg verses the 1.2 mpg on my old motors.

I have a 27' Sailfish with twin 97' 225's 2 strokes. I like the engine performance. I am getting on an average of 1.2 mpg. at 3800-4000 RPM, cruising at 24-26 knots. From what I have heard, the 4 strokes are about 1.7 -1.8 mpg.

Good Luck,

VC

Hi, I have a 98 sailfish repowered with f225's. The 98 running surface has been extended under the eurotransom, 97 and earlier have not. the boat i believe is rated at 450 hp. The f225's average about 1.5 to 1.7 statute mpg's. The jonnies you have on the hull right now are VERY thirsty motors. Any questions, Please feel free to contact me

I have a 96 bought it 2008 with a pair of Ocean Pro 200's - replaced them with a pair of 2010 Etec 225's .I looked at Merc, Yamaha and the Etecs - very happy with my choice runnng 1.5 + MPG most of the time. Top speed is 53 MPH with a moderate load . They are very effecient at a idle less than 0.5 GPH - trolling here at a idle most of the time.
If you want more info let me know.
