First post, long time lurker.

I have seen a couple of threads about various upgrades and they have been super helpful.

I have a 2004 Sailfish 282, currently it has a Raymarine c80 that I am replacing with a new Simrad NSS12 evo2, 4G Radar and AP24 autopilot.

Radar Questions
1) should I use a platform like the 5" aft leaning SeaView or Edson to get it off the Hardtop?

2) should I install a 4 degree down angle wedge (either with or without the mounting post)? It looks like the boat rides a little bow high from looking at running pictures so I assume the down angle would be a good idea.

Autopilot Questions
1) where is your pump located? I was thinking of mounting on the cabin bulkhead right under the helm. I haven't confirmed this will work yet as my boat is still all wrapped up for the winter, but it looks like the best place to put it. Under there would be relatively dry and an easy spot to put T's off the helm pump.

2) where should I locate the AP computer and compass. The only place I can think of is the storage locker under the aft bunk, but that would mean I would loose some of that area. I also don't know if that makes the compass too close to the Air-conditioning unit that is installed just aft of the head. Does any one know off hand if there is a way to fish wires from the helm down to this locker?

I will post pictures once done, all the ones I have seen so far have been so helpful.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

There is a radar thread here:

My compass is located inside the cabin just starboard of the door as shown in the photograph. The computer and pump are both located behind the plywood panel at the back of the center berth, along with the water pump and trim-tab pump.

Grady customer service might be able to answer your questions as well.

Although ease of running the three hydraulic lines to the A/P pump is certainly a consideration, you should also consider that these pumps are not quiet, and the starting/stopping/reversing of the pump can make enough noise to be bothersome.

We don't have a mid-berth area, so I mounted ours in the storage area under the starboard side of the V-berth, near the trim-tab pump.
