Looking at an '05 282 Sailfish w/250s. For you Sailfish owners, what should I be looking for? How many can reasonably sleep overnight on board (thinking of 1 or 2 adults and kids age 12 and under). This would be very infrequent, maybe once a year and could include sleeping bags in the cockpit...

The GW site doesn't have performance data anymore for the Sailfish, what kind of fuel burn do you see in the real world?

Any pros or cons?

I have a '98 272.
2 can comfortably sleep in vee berth 2 little kids or 1 adult can sleep in aft berth.
On Bahama trips we'll put a tent on aft deck and sleep 2 or more.
I have 225 OX 66's so my fuel use is not relevant.
 
F250s for sure. you'll avoid corrosion issues with F225s and the extra power is nice to have. I get about 1.3 mg on tuna days (5 adults and usually 3-6' swells with anywhere from 1-3' chop, not 6' and 3'!!!). 1.6 cruising around the Puget Sound at a leisurely pace. Maxed out I hit 5,900 - 6,000 rpms, 45 mph, and burn 40+ GPH. That doesn't happen very often or very long! She likes to cruise about 28 mph burning about 20 gph. 35 mph is about 24-25 gph. Can squeeze two adults up front and 2 kids that get along in the aft berth. But, that aft berth is really comfy for me! The port side angles up slightly and makes a great pillow angle.
 
If you pack light you can fit 2 adults in the V and 1 kid in the aft. You're better off using the aft berth for storage and using the V and a tent in the cockpit.

I was wrong the Sailfish I am looking at has F225 Yammies. Is their a problem with these engines to be aware of?
 
Some have confirmed corrosion issues. google yamaha and corrosion. Certainly not all of them, as we hear more about the bad ones than the ones with no problems. But, it can get expensive if you are the unlucky owner.
