Since I am new to Grady White boats.I would like to know why Grady made the 22' Seafarer in two different transom designs.What are the advantages over each one...thanks

I'm hoping to move up to a 228 at some point in the not so distant future. IMO a 226 is really basically the same as my 208 except is has a sink in the cabin. The main advantage I see with the 228 is the closed transom and bracket. Other than that the 226 and 228 are basically the same.

Although we chose the 258, I really liked the layout of the 228. I especially liked having a dedicated livewell on the centerline. Enclosed transom seemed more kid-friendly. The enclosed transom seemed to allow a little less engine sound into the cockpit, too.
Only drawback I felt on a test ride is that, due to the engine hanging out on the bracket, there is a little more stern 'squat' before coming up on plane.

Thanks guys for the info.I bought a 226 ( 2006 ) this winter,yet too try it out.But I sure love the looks and the design,and owning a Grady is awseome too.
I am just trying to rig it up with a kicker and that is a bit of a challange. :roll:
