So I have a 1993 seafarer 226 with a 93 Yamaha 200hp. I am currently running a 15.5 x 17p Yamaha ss 3 blade. With 3 people and 3/4 fuel onboard I’m running wot 5100 and @37 mph. It’s has hardtop, pulpit, cooler, 15ga water tank an potty onboard. So heavy boat. Most time I have 4 adults as well. Cruise is 4000 at 28mph loaded up. So Question is I have tried a 15x15 ss 3 blade prop and wot was 57-5800 rpms. Dropped to a 17 and only 5100. I bought boat with a 13 3/4 x 19p aluminum and would only turn 46-4700 wot. What prop is best for my set up. Also should I try a 4 blade to help the lower hp motor? Thanks.

You should definitely try a 4 blade. I'm sure somebody will soon post the Grady-White propeller wizard's phone number, but it sounds like maybe something in the neighborhood of a 15 x 16 4 blade might be an option...

My 228 has a Honda 200hp

I was spinning a 14.25x17 prop when I purchased boat that was owned by a family who used it for water sports of all things, so guessing they had good power, but I live in high altitude, so Ken helped me as he has done with many others, get me the right prop based of my performance at different rpm's.

Interestingly, he didn't suggest a 4 blade (I asked him thinking it would be a no brainer), but my hole shot and cruise is great now. Ended up with a Mercury Enertia prop.

Good luck! It's a fun process except for the smoke coming off the Visa card.

In my opinion one of the best props available and especially suited to Mercs . I have a Yamaha saltwater series 17" . I have a 17" and 18" Enertia that I'm going to try on my 250 Yam when i get around to get the correct prop hub. I want to compare the 2 props and i will report results.

When I had a 226 with a 200 HPDI, I switched to a Mirage Plus 15.5x17. 5400 rpm and 41 mph. You have to trim it way up though.

Enertia is superior to Mirage plus . On my last boat ( 228 with 250 Optimax) I tried Mirage plus 17", Vensura 17+19 and Enertia 17,18 and 19 . I found the Enertia 17 best suitable for my application , offshore fishing big Pacific swells and sometimes very short period chop. (waves standing up). I don't have a hub kit for Yamaha to suit Enertia as soon as I get one I'll try it.

Bow lift makes a huge difference in the performance. Yamaha saltwater series 2 was the ticket for mine. Gained 5 mph with the same pitch over non bow lifting props. A lot smoother ride also.

Not a 200, but I have a 175 Mercury 2-stroke on my '93 226. Running a mercury vengeance 14.5 x17p stainless prop, I can almost squeek out 40mph with full fuel, Bimini top deployed, ready to fish with 3 people on the boat and a 4 stroke kicker. When i say almost 40, I mean 39.7mph on the GPS. That's trimmed way up, turning 5500-5600rpm. No hardtop, but it is bottom painted. I'd like to try and run it clean with the top down and see if could pull 5800rpm and 41-42mph one day.
