The Yami gauge for my reserve tank reads empty when it is full. I took the sending unit out but left it wired and manually pushed the plastic float up and the bar graph reads full. I put the unit back in and I don't think my plastic float is floating anymore. If this is how they wear out and if I need to replace just the float where do i get one? This is factory 2003 282 Sailfish. Thanks

You can test the float in a bucket of water to see if it floats and moves.
How did you ground the sender when you took it out and did you use the same ground that is connected when it is installed. No ground or bad ground will cause an empty reading.

I just took the 3 screws out and pulled the unit out and moved the plastic float. I didn't undo any wires. I would love for the problem to be the ground wire! I can fix that and will try tomorrow. Thanks

If you took the sender out, moved it by hand, the fuel gauge registered the corresponding amount, then there would appear to be another issue. Put it back in the tank, and it reads empty, although you know the tank is full. Take seasick's advice, pull the sender and stick it in a 5 gal bucket. You'll see if it floats or not...
