Hello all, I have been searching for a short radar dome for my Grady white 235. I am running a garmin 1243xsv, and I looked at their site for the radar domes. Those domes are a minimum of 9". The reason being is for clearance into my storage unit which has an 11.5 ft high door entrance, so I am not able to get the boat on a trailer and with a radar dome (garmin 18HD) inside. I would need a 5 inch high dome at max. I know it will be tough to find if at all, but I thought I would just ask here in case anyone had seen one that height with good transmission and compatible to Garmin equipment. Thanks.

Make it removable at the hard top level or consider lowering the boat on the trailer a bit if possible. The new Fantom radars have power and network plugs that are easy to unplug.

It's fairly common to have the mount hinged at the forward edge and a pin is pulled at the rear allowing the dome to tip forward and down in front of the hardtop. The cord has to be positioned to allow this.

Here's another take on the solution to your problem. I like the hinge method myself.

Thank you. I do like the hinge method if they do not make a shorter radar dome.
