I now have over 100 hours on my Suzuki 300 on my '95 232. I averaged 2 gph w/ lots of bay trolling. 3 gph w/ long runs, 3'+ seas and several hours of trolling. Depending on sea conditions I troll at .6 to .8 gph. I cruise at 27-28 mph at 9.5 to 10.5 gph.
This is the quietest motor ever. That is one good reason for push button start. Fly by wire is awesome.
No oil or additives are great.
You will not be sorry for this match.
My only complant is that my downriggers now make too much noise!

Thanks for the reply. That comes out to around 2.57-2.67mpg at cruise which in my view is exceptional. What is your cruise Rpm #..??

Which pitch prop did you settle on..? Where does your WOT put you..?

Using my #'s for my old 250 Yamaha, your effeciency w/ the new motor probably jumped close to 60%. Can't complain with that..Wow..

Money well spent.

I settled on 16 x 18 prop. It will not fully tach out to 6100 but I like the power range. I'm not into speed, only on my whaler. I cruise around 3850/4000 rpms, depending on conditions.
And did I mention NO OIL !!!!

Hi Bay Son, I'm putting a 300 suzuki on a 232 as well and am trying to decide on the correct prop to order, are you happy with your 16x18.5? or so you think a 16x17 would be a better match? Also has anyone tried a 4 blade with this motor? Thanks

I'm replacing the 250 on my Islander with a 300 and am trying to decide between the 16x17 and the 16x18.5. I'll be interested to see everyones experiences.

If I may interject... I think the 16x18.5 will be too much prop given this hull's characteristics. A buddy of mine is testing out a 300 on a 232 and with a 15.5x19 could only make a WOT of 5100rpm..

These hulls w/ the 250hp that they were rigged w/ normally had a 17M prop. I think a 17 pitch is the real ticket but we will soon see..

The 18"prop works for me. I am looking for cruising speed/economy. I love this motor, but it is hard to prop. I gave it a start/run yesterday. Fired right up after sitting since 1st of Feb. So quiet.

You need to replace that downrigger wire with 200 or 250# Power Pro, then you'll be total stealth!
