I have a 1999 yamaha 200hp ox66 on the back of my grady white 209 escape and the skeg is broken off. What is the best way to repair the skeg? Should I have a new one put on or should I order an aftermarket skeg guard and replace it with that. I will try to get a picture soon but I only have about an inch to work with from the exhisting skeg. Any help would be appreciated!

Im going tomorrow to get the skeg repaired by Hale Propeller in Old Saybrook, CT. I think im going to put a skeg gard on after.....any thoughts?

If you hit something at speed, its just going to break the gear housing instead.

skeg repaired and boat back in the water. The previous owner had a repair done and the weld was not done properly. The skeg fell off because of a bad weld and the friction from the engine.
