Just want to post that my 98 sailfish steering locked up on a return trip in my canal. two bolts fell out of the steering with little to no warning. I took the wheel off and removed cover. It turned out that the bolts loosened up and dropped out, the repair was easy, just reinstalled the bolts. It will be my annual part of my pre launch checklist. Not sure if anyone else has had this experience.

I assume you mean the bolts that hold the steering box to the dash. Regardless, use some LocTite next time you check them out. The red stuff is for permanent apps and the blue is for things that may need to disassembled.

No actually it was the 2 bolts that connect 2 clam shell type halves to the steering shaft. these were all internal. I guess that these allow the wheel to tilt.
