storage question on Marlin and others

Ok folks, what do you keep in the storage compartment between the cockpit seats on a Marlin. I'm talking about the little lift up area that drains on the deck. Mine is always filled with water and I just cant figure out what to keep in there, and how to do it?

The previous owner of mine went out to the ditch often from Lewes Delaware. He had a divider system made out of lexan for different size weights. I've since removed the dividers and carry a much lighter lead assortment in that compartment since I am inshore. It is a nice place for weights since as you suggested it gets wet and it is low in the boats center of gravity. I also put my umbrella rigs on top of the lead during trolling season. jh
