Hi. I have a 2003 Advance 257 with single Yamaha 225. I love my boat, but sometimes I feel it is underpowered, especially for the occasional tubing and skiing my kids like to do. Has anyone gone to the expense of switching to a 350? Is it possible? My dealer says my boat can't take it although the newer ones can take it. I've also thought/dreamed about trading in for either the T225 or T275. Any thoughts/insights appreciated!

Lewes: Grady says our transoms don't have the reinforcement needed in that one location to support the torque or weight of an F350. I asked. The 2008 boats have additional bracing.

That 275 is a nice boat. I especially like the hard top.

I put a Suzuki 300 on my Islander and will be testing props over the next couple weeks - so far cruise in up to about 28 knots at 13.4 gph and top end is 33 knots.

So many guys are in need of a proper 300 HP 4 stroke engine, and are Yamaha loyalists.

It's a crying shame the F300 is useless as a single or twin.

I know a guy who wants more speed on his 600 Hp Marlin hull with twin F250s. Same story.

Thank heaven for Suzukie.

They all have good 300's except Yamaha (well it's probably a good engine but at 800# it's going to stay in the crate.)

There are 300 ETECS (yea it's a 2 stroke), Verados, and Zukes all of which are around 200# lighter.

boat builders are having to significantly redesign their sterns for not just the weight of the F350, but many are finding the torque to be a major issue...., it is a very heavy engine....the F300, unfortunately, imo, is a pig...the suzuki 300 or an etec/optimax may be much better for you as an option...if you plan on skiing...the 2 stroke DI engines offer much more get up and go.....(but oh yeah...you'd have to add oil)...again...the suzuki will give you 300 hp without going to the big heavy v-8 or supercharged blocks.....just my 2 cents worth....

I wonder how the 300 HPDI or 300 ETEC would fare up with the F300 on a boat pull? Or even the F350. Would the 2 stroke pull it under?

The F350 should be an F400 minimum for all that weight.
