Ok guys I'm ready to launch the Salty Dog Monday. I installed the Pro Mariner charger today and checked the bilge pump. Those were my last 2 things to do.
Stripers are running and hopefully I'll be able to post some photos.
Got a few questions for you Seafarer owners:
1- Replacement latches for the fold down transom door. I need them. What have you done? Photos please.
2-Anyone add a latch/lock to the cabin? Drill it in? Photos Please.
3-Storage compartments. Right now I have stuff everywhere, gotta figure it out. Ideas anyone?
4-Safety gear. Not running offshore anytime soon, just need basic stuff. I have the tools, tape, extra hose, zip ties, etc. Anyone carry Plumbers putty, corks, dowels etc?
That's about it, I'm sure other things will come up as I use it.

Hope your launch went well.
I have owned the Overnighter for 15 years then moved to a Seafarer this year. Overnighter really had awsome storage setup.
Do you have aft storage boxes under your rear seats? I don't and miss these on the Seafarer. I need to get these or find something.
I am still very much trying to get organized with my storage -
My cabin latch was broken and simply went to a local shop (Ken Lockwood by route 35 NJ) and got the exact same one. Just screws and it is secure. That was easy. I have the fold down transom door - I will have to look and those hinges - replacement latches - never notices them.
I am keeping most items (fishing items) behind the driver helm large storage compartment seat. And on the other side goes the catch of the day and next to that - the refreshments. Mine is sealed nice as it will certainly hold ice much longer than expected. Under the helm seat is a single draw - here i have tools, fuses, tape, wire ties etc... the passenger seat also has a single draw - here I keep all my rig hardware.. in side the cabin has much less storage than the overnighter - surprisingly. in the storage I keep the life jackets.

Now that it's in the water and my fishing gear is on board, room is fading quickly. I have to make more use of the under cushion areas.
On a side note I noticed my speed does not read on the gauge, anything to look for?

A pic of the latch would help. Check Southco online.
Don't bother with a lock. They will do more damage getting in. They will get in.
I use Cabellas Advanced Angler soft bags for tackle. I think they are the best.
You can mount a plier/knife/tool caddy. Check out Blackfin Mfg on the web.
I lined the drawers under the helm seat and use them as well as the bulk storage areas. Nothing special to hold material.

I found a small key that came with the boat, it locks the cabin locks. I'm all set. Thanks.
I put the tools, tape, ties etc under the helm seat. I'll check out Blackfin too.
 
Hey guys I’m new to Grady White with an 01 seafarer. I love the ride even more than I expected. Only down is the storage. Fortunately mine does not have the optional secondary tank. We are going to open it up and divide it into two or three compartment with a lift up hatch. It will be a winter project. There is locking device for the cuddy door. Any suggestions?

Look at the latches on the plexi glass, they have little holes in them. That is the lock. Nee a small key. I can get a photo tomorrow.

Never realized they locks. I’ll look at this tomorrow. That you.
 
I don't have a transom door. Mine is an 08. We have one big gas tank. It's 125 gallons. If you want an emergency plug in the hole kind of thing, it's not plumbers putty, it's a toilet wax ring that you need to buy. I store stuff in the cabin compartments.

There is a setting on your Yamaha equipment gauges for either GPS or motor. On the motor there is a pitot hole which water enters and speed is determined by the water pressure on the hole. If it's blocked with debris , you will either get faulty readings or no reading at all.

That hole was clogged on a Yamaha 250 I was running....a mechanic showed me how to take the tiniest drill bit I could find and gently twist it into the hole to clear it. Worked like a charm.
