I have a 1998 Gulfstream 232 with a Yamaha 2 stroke 250, great boat, I love it. My problem is that when I set power where I want it, (rpm and/or speed), I find the power begins to creep up and I have to pull back on the throttle. Conversly, when I'm powering back, I have to nudge it back up to my desired rpm/speed. It usually takes about five to eight seconds after I remove my hand for this "self adjust" to occur.
Is this just slop in the cable? Can it be adjusted? Appreciate any input.

My guess is that there is play in the cable. Check both ends to see if the outter sheath is secured tightly. Another possibility is that there is a break in the sheath somewhere and the cable is stretching when you move the throttle.
This is a new one to me so my guess is just that, a guess
