Hey guys, I’m the process of updating electronics on my 2002 226 with a B175HW thru hull transducer and a Garmin 943XSV MFD.
Bilge area is pretty tight and the biggest spot available for the transducer is in front of the raw water pickup. Unfortunately it will put the rear edge of the transducer 2” in front of pickup grate. I’m hoping it will be ok but there’s no point in the upgrade if it can’t work right.
Only other option I can think of is to move the raw water to other side or stick to transom mount transducer.
Thanks in advance for any insight!

Usually Grady has an area recommended for transducer placement. Might be worth an e-mail or a phone call.

I have a 208 adventure so not sure if the bilge access is the same but I mounted my b175m 12” stbd of the keel and 12” fore of the transom. My raw water pick up location is mirrored on the other side of the keel. You will love the performance of the thru-hull transducer. I can hold bottom at 300 fathoms and 12 knots.

That transducer is available in three different "tilt" degrees - 0, 12 and 20 degrees. It does not have to be centerline mounted.

Some GW models (like mine) have transducer mounting pads on port and starboard side. They are blocked on both sides of the hull to provide a zero degree mounting surface. My B744 is mounted that way. The pad may be too narrow for the above transducer. You should be able to rework the pad to accommodate it.

Hope that helps.
