Towing Inflatable

Anytime I’m towing any tube, inflatable, skier, anything, it’s full down, mainly to stay on plane at lower speeds.

Assuming you mean the engine on the dingy. For short distances of a couple miles in protected waters I have done both. I usually tilt it up though. For longer distances I just take the engine off and stow it in the cockpit. This would also depend on how big the engine is too. I have a 3.5hp so its easy enough to just remove.

what are you specifically towing? a tube for water sports, or an inflatable dingy as a tender?

Thanks. I have a 9.9 on the dinghy so stays on. Not as young as I once was. So I guess I’ll keep it down. I have it bolted on so it is secure. I plan to tow back of the first wake as advised so fingers crossed. Thank you

Also if you don't have a towing bridle, you should get one.

Towing inflatable. Engine up or engine down?
Assuming you mean towing a raft with kids or people on it, I keep the engine trim all the way down. Same when towing a kneeboard. It allows to plane at lower speed (as TinkerMatt said), keeps the bow lower and the boat more stable. Make sure you always have a dedicated 'spotter' on board (not just you in the boat), things happen fast.

My mistake. I meant towing a dingy with my Express. Wondering about the dinghy motor. Preference to have the motor up or down while it is being towed.
