Trailer question

I have just purchased a GW 270 Islander. It came on a loadmaster trailer with some rusting parts, one of which was a hull Pad/guide. (dont know proper name) I need to swap this piece out with new but my father-in-law suggested using some rollers in place. Anyone have advice if this is a good idea or not?

Get the proper replacement part from Loadmaster. I have my Islander sitting on a roller trailer in NC and if I bring it back south will buy a Loadmaster bunk trailer to do so.

It sounds like what you are referring to are the bunks that the boat rests on. They can be replaced very easily. I have owned roller trailers and they are OK for smaller boats but my Islander sits on bunks and I am very pleased. Float off and drive on. No problems, even if I'm alone. If your glove box is underneath you gauges and has a has a split door, part hinging up and part down, PM me and I'll send you photos of how I flush mounted a 10" gps in the opening.
