I have a Wesco also and the only time mine won't back up is when I pop the fuse in the fuse block under the hood going to the trailer reverse circuit. I sometimes pull other trailers and they may be wired different for the reverse wire and it will pop the fuse.

Mine has disc brakes wtih the surge actuator and I have never had to do all the rolling and coasting before putting into reverse, as long as the fuse is good it allows me to back up by disengaging the brakes through the truck wiring, 5 wire connector plug (2007 F-250 4X4).

Hookup- I have disc brakes...your point makes a lot of sense...thanks for the advise, I'll also be checking the trailer height. I think B-Faithful may also have a point. ....thanks to everyone
