Yes you do need to get a wide load permit. D.O.T will pull you over and give you a hefty fine.

I had to get a permit cause I bought my 25 ft Grady trophy pro in new haven ct. and I needed to get the wide load permit from the town before i could tow it. Anything bigger then 8 ft 5 inch beam needs wide load permit. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your replys. I ask this question because we are considering getting a bigger boat next year. I would only be trailering it to the ramp to put it in for the season and to take it out at the end of the season. What does the permit cost?
