It's time to replace my transom-mounted Raymarine dragonfly system (unit and transducer). That unit served me several years until I broke one of the 10-connector pins.. gone no repair. This unit is good for shallow water but not bottom fishing in moderately deeper water.

what is the best replacement if I'll doing bottom fishing at depth of 100 to 400 feet most of the time ... looking to upgrade to a dedicated Airmar transducer for better bottom target separation at rest and at speed.
should I use through-hull or I can make it without drilling holes (shoot-thru-hull transducer)

There is very limited space in the aft bilge area in 228 that is already angled to the side ... see photo

The Grady forum has been very helpful. I appreciate your support.

I just installed a Airmar B75H thru hull in my 228 I was going to go with a stern mount ducer but decided thru hull would be much better.

Thank you
Can I get a photo of the bilge area to see where did you mount it? what is the maximum depth you fish and how the Airmar B75H separate targets at the bottom?
