I have just purchased a Lowrance HDS Gen2 Touch with a 83/200kHz and the lss2 tranducers. The boat I recently purchased has a Garmin 492 already on it. I was planning on leaving all the Garmin equipment and using it for a back up. One person I spoke with to install the new Lowrance said I should consider removing the Garmin transducer to eliminate any chance of interference with the new ones. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this. I would really like to keep ALL the transducers operable if possible.

I had a boat many years ago with a flasher and a fishfinder and they didn't interfere. Are you thinking about signal interference or water turbulence from the transducers being mounted close together on the transom? If it is signal interference, I would think you could just shut the backup off until you need it.

Interference will come if both units are operating on the same frequency ...

Thank you both for your responses.

Ona ... I was more concerned with the frequencies of the transducers interfering with one another.

Curmudgeon.. How would I know the frequency at which the Garmin is operating ?

I am sure these questions show my greenness but I gotta learn !!

As long as you are not running both on the same frequency you will be fine.
