I wouldn't know. My boat repels fish whether lights on or lights off. I think it must have some type of anti-pheromones impregnated into the hull.
we don't even leave the dock...turn the lights on and fish under the dock

Is that a TM260?
I need a 1kw transducer!
TM275 Chirp, I fish game and I need to find bait schools at speed. I drop at up to 1500' as well for bottom fish and I need to read the bottom.
I pick up fish at that depth on the bottom.
I didn't want to put a large hole on the bottom to fit a through hull .

I have a thru hull B744v that looses bottom at about 1000ft. Would like to replace with a B258 or B260 to get to at least 1800' for sword fishing.
The Transom Mount TM258 or TM260 are considerably less expensive though. But I don't know where I would put it.

They are only $100 dearer here TM275 $AU 1849 ( USD 1257) , B275 ,$AU1999 (USD 1359).
They are both going to work if fitted correct. Much better than your B744.

So... I’m installing a new garmin transducer next weekend and LOVE this idea with plastic block. Why not make it easy and use 3M 4200? I doubt it would ever break loose unless intended.

That will depend on the ducer you are mounting, a little unit should be fine but a big 1kw one wouldn't. If you mount that with little 1" screws it will just pull out. That has to be mounted with the supplied screws 5/16" and 2" long 5 of them . I install mine with Sikaflex and never have any water intrusion problems, same with the mounting the cable and the hole for the cable .

yes I would not put a TM260 on a Stern Pad. If I had to put on a big TM, I would probably bump out a thick mounting pad with glass & plywood.
Honestly, I don't know why boat builders don't do that straight away, same as they do for bilge pumps.

NO HOLE IN THE TRANSOM! This block of Plastic? is attached to the transom with tape made by 3M Company. Been there for 8 months! No problem. Had to buy a second one as the first on which you can see to the right would not allow the tranducer to read at full throttle. This is a 1988 228G Seafarer. Works perfect in second location and very little danger of being knocked off! Go toView attachment 10766 SeaWorthyInnovations.Com Uses 3M VHB Tape
