transom bracket what is the mold under the fiberglass

Does anyone know what is under the fiberglass in a transom bracket is it pieces of marine ply molded together to make the bracket with fiberglass over top?[/img]

Unless your bracket has been replaced, it is made of aluminum. No fiberglass.

The only ones I've seen not Aluminum are from Hermco. They are: " Brackets are a molded fiberglass part constructed entirely of hand laid biaxial fiberglass and gel coat finish. No rot, corrosion, or electrolysis. Cored with "Coosa Composites Bluewater 26" high density fiber reinforced polyurethane foam and "Divinycell"


I think he's located in Florida and does make a nice bracket.

yeah, it should be aluminum. My boat has what they called the "grady" drive which is their own version of a bracket I guess...but whether its theirs or one from a company like Armstrong, its usually aluminum. The rare occasion may be the one that Grog is talking about, but I've personaly never seen one at the marina.
