Transom crack inside the boat

I am looking at an ‘89 overnighter. It has cracks on the inside. Help me figure it out should I buy this? They want $50009431AC34-D24C-4CA0-96FB-FA601DECD3FA.jpegA0CF886F-6951-45C0-9862-4607441CBDD3.jpegimage.jpg
 
There is an active thread for an 87 Overnighter with stern cracks. Quite a few comments already.

87 offshore transom repair question?

While doing a some repairs on my one year new to me 87 offshore which included fuel tank and hose replacement, through hull fitting and hose repreplacement. While upgrading the electrical I removed the live well and noticed these cracks on the transom knee stringers. This boat has a bracket and...

If $5,000 is all you have to spend on a boat then my answer is no. If you have another $5,000 to spend on repairs ( and assuming the engine is usable) and you are willing to not be able to use the boat for an extended period then it could be a decent deal. Similar boats are asking in the 10k to 12k range.
My initial take on the cracks are that the transom has to be rebuilt and possibly beefed up. What model motor is hanging off that bracket
 
I agree. Those appear to be structural.
 
That crack just looks like the bracket was over tightened.
Go over the crack with 3M5200 to seal it.
You could point to that as a means to drive the price down but it wouldn’t worry me. You’ll see that kinda thing on brand new boats.

I don’t know, you can get a boat like this, throw a new tank in it and a few other repairs and have a great useable boat. Even if he pays $5k and throws another $5k into it compare that to the price of a new Grady.
