Going to replace my transom drains soon, just looking for some advice on sealing them. Should I use o-rings or some type of sealant? I also plan to use a flaring tool. When measuring for the length of the tubes how much should I allow for the flare?

I sealed mine with 4200. As far as the length, i made mine 3/16 longer. One side was done allready. 1/8 is usually O.K for the length, but i wanted to have more sealant there, that is why i made mine a little longer.
Oh, i used a home made tool, two truck wheel nuts, washers and a threaded rod. Works like a charm.

4200 & 5200 are both 3M products. They're also available at outlets other than West Marine....probably at a better price.
