Anyone attempted to do this themselves on a Yamaha 2 stroke or HPDI V6?

Mine has been kaput....picked up a sender on EBay and the replacement SS collar from my local dealer but I'd like to save the labor charges and do it myself. I can see the screw that holds the sender to the bracket, and can remove that, but are there are any recommendations, piftalls, etc...that I should know? It looks like the wires go up into the motor pan, but do I need to remove the pan cover on the outside to get to the wire?

Any help would, as always, be greatly appreciated...

I replaced the whole unit on my 225 4 stroke.. Do not know how different
yours is.. The actual sender unit is no problem but the threading of the wiring through the power head for the electrical connection was a real PITA.. Probably some tricks to that I did not know.

Also, don't attempt if boat is in the water. I'll never do that again.
