Trolling motor installation on the 27 sailfish

I’m going to get a boarding ladder for the port side bow and put a hinge in the starboard bow rail. I have always grabbed the rail and pulled myself up and under the rail when we nose in but I’m getting too old for that shit. I was afraid cutting the rail would weaken the rail too much to support my weight so that’s why I didn’t cut it.
