Hi all,

Can anyone share thier experience trolling squid bars behind a Grady Gulfstream? Especially clearing the lines when a BFT or other game fish is on. We tend to troll seven lines with primarily squid bars on five of the lines. My concern would be too tight for space. I am sure people make it work or is this just another reason why people buy larger boats. I fish off of Massachusetts.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Gulfstream and we typically troll 9 or 10 lines when fishing offshore for tuna, mahi, and marlin. We usually run 2 - 3 spreader bars. I added an extra set of gunnel rod holders and we will usually run on bar on each side of the boat from the rod tips. If the seas are relatively calm, we may try to move them to the short rigger position but often this involves tightening the clips so they don't pop with the waves. Often the 3rd bar will be run from the hardtop right down the middle placed just past the flatlines. We usually do this when marlin fishing to serve as an extra teaser. Last year we hooked up to a nice white marlin on this rod, definitely a little difficult getting the rod out of the launcher with a white marlin attached at the other end. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like you have no problem making it all work with the space available.

Thanks!
