I troll Lake Michigan with one motor at a time.I know the Yamaha manual says to raise the other motor, but when I do the steering binds up, and last time out I noticed a little oil running down the helm behind the steering wheel. My question is,do I really need to tilt the motor not in use? is there a chance of a following wave finding it's way up my motor? Putting extra stress on the steering worries me.Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Joe.

Troll on one engine all the time.

Slow for stripers.

Faster offshore for pelagics.

NEVER raise an engine.

Usually on autopilot.

At trolling speeds leave motor down, not at cruising speeds.

Leaving motor down also steers the boat better.
