Aaaahhh YES!!
4 short weeks later and she's running like a dream. All I had to do was:
- Suck out fuel and clean tanks
- Replace all fuel filters and separators
- VSTs cleaned and rebuilt (seal, filters, o-ring)
- Replace 4 fuel pumps (fortunately OEM are a fraction of the cost of Yamaha!)
- Changed leaking fuel bulbs into small pumps - I like this mod...
- Replace fuel injectors (Bosch are cheap on eBay)
- Replace Timing belts & tensioner$
- Replace thermostats
- Some other stuff that I can't remember.
There was a thick orange brown buildup on anything that touched or held fuel, but once the new injectors were in they just ran perfectly. I trolled for at least 8 hours over the weekend, switching up motors about every hour and not a puff of smoke or a single cough were evident. Super quiet and I have to be careful with the throttle, or the torque will get ya. I wasn't sure that the 225 would be as powerful as I wanted, but they ARE. I had it up to 44 mph / 5800 and there was throttle left. YES!! Cruises at 28 @ 4000 / 15gph. GREAT setup!!
Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice!
