I am starting to explore new props for my 265Express/F225's Right now I am running 17" ss props (It is odd that 17 is the only marking on the props, so I am not sure what they are). Right now I am getting about 1.4mpg @ 4000rpms / max rpms over 6000, and in any sort of swell a good deal of ventilation, enough in heavier seas to pull me off plane. I had seen very good things about the Mirage plus 18, but I had also seen the new (or newly named) Vensura.

Does anyone have any experience these new props? I know I would lose some top end with the 4 blade, but I really could care less. I really would like better mid-range fuel economy and to limit the ventilation issue. :hmm

I'm not sure if you have read any of the previous threads about props for the best boat grady ever made.........

Anyways I have Solas 4 blade 14 1/4 diam x 17 " pitch and am getting best economy 1.8mpg lightly loaded in ideal conditions . Boat tops out at 6,000rm and 40 knots WOT in same conditions. I have niI cavitation issues and run my motors one hole off the highest position so believe the 4 blades hang on well. I would be interested in any tests you do with other props.

I would be thrilled with 1.8mpg. Your motors are mounted 2nd hole from the top - I have mounted on the top holes - which really with the ventilation issue I have with the current props, I don't think I could bring them up. It seems logical to me that this rig needs a 4 blade, some guys have thought I am nuts. It is really hard to find somewhere around me that stocks a few kinds to try, before you buy. I am really not sure other then to hit the forums, how to figure this out.

4 blade mercs (rev 4's) would cost around $2,ooo ausd here . You have much better prices there and the Prop Doc guys will help with exchange. Alternatively buy them used on THT and then if they don't work out you'll be able to move them on relatively easily without losing much. Once you find the right pair then you will have currennt props to sell.

I got mine as part of the deal with my repower and Solas are the only folks who exchange in Aus. I tried 20" and 18" pitch 4 blades prior to these but couldn't achieve revs at WOT and lightly loaded which seems to be the bench mark.

It's an inexact science and even when you've got what you think is right you'll still be left wondering "what if?"

The fuel management gage may be off. The only way to really know what you're getting for mileage if to compare miles run with actual fuel burned. First trip offshore this year we ran 164 miles and the fuel management gage said I burned 116 gallons. When we fueled up it took 91 gallons so I averaged about 1.8 mpg.

I run the Mirage Plus 18's. Very rarely do they cavitate. I think I picked up a couple tenths over the Yamaha SWS 17's that came on the boat.

I hate threads that end with the results...I grabbed a couple of 17" 4 Blade Offshore (now Vensura) props off of eBay, the feel is off on these, they are slipping way too much out of the hole. I am going to order a pair of the 17" or maybe 19" Rev 4's off of prop gods. I am leaning towards the 17's,unless anyone has reason to think the 19's would work. I think the 19's might be too much in offshore swells, heavily loaded.

Anybody have a need for a pair of 17" Offshore props?
