Has anyone had any luck with repairing a small tear in the helm seat? I don’t want to remove the seat to repair since it just went in the water!

I’ve had good luck with a product called Tear Aid. It’s a clear tape but does the job for small tears and will get you through the season.
 
VLP vinyl repair - clear glue meant for vinyl - you can stitch it together a bit at a time with little strips of tape if needed. You can also use clear vinyl on top if needed.

In most towns, there's at least one good vinyl guy/shop that will come to the boat. Since you said you're "in the water", that increases the likelihood of this.
