I have a 1995 226 Seafarer with a 1995 Yamie 200 hp Salt Water II 2 stroke.
I ride with up to 4 adults and gear= 800 pounds
92 gal gas tank

Been reading the posts about using Merc Mirage Plus props.
Went to Merc's website, did the interactive "choosing a Prop" and came up with two Mirage recommendations 15.5 X 17p and 15 3/8 X 18p.

Just want best overall performance - no hole shots, hot speed - just up on plane faster, improved mileage, etc

Anybody have any experience/recommendations with either one on a Seafarer similar to mine ?

Thanks,

Paul P

Mercury has been the industry leader when it comes to props. All you need to do is change the hub to match your engine. I've used Merc props before and found them to be superior to any other that I've used. A smaller pitch will allow you to plane quicker but you have to remember that it will also increase your top end rpm's. You do not want to go above your max RPM for your motor. If your max RPM is 6000 it would be safe to be around 5500. If you looking to pop onto plane quicker, you might want to consider a 4-blade or 5-blade prop.
