I appreciate that similar conversations have come up in the past but I would like to understand people's current views on the merits of the yamaha versus the evinrude e-tech.
I live in bermuda and have an Islander with 9-10 year old yamahas on the back. Given the age I'm now getting concerned of being stuck 25 miles offshore without working engines...hence it's time to consider replacements.
In Bermuda the Evinrudes and Yamahas are popular. I've never had any issues with the Yamahas but am now constantly hearing good things about the Evinrudes.
I would be keen to know what people think.
Thank you
Matt

You have not been looking too hard then. Check here, thehulltruth.com and other sites. Yamahas while reliable have their set of issues.
The big block F225s have had corrosion issues that are big ticket repairs. Once beleived to be a few years - doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Late F250 models reported to have the same issue. I'm also wondering about 300/350s in a few years. I would do a lot of research.....
