Yamaha Lube

What is the difference between Yamaha Lube 4M & 4W? Reading the containers they sound almost identical.

Here's what Yamaha says:

4W is for 4-stroke watercraft (PWC's)
4M is for 4-stroke outboard motors.

The 4W should not be used in an outboard and visa versa according to Yamaha.
