Getting boat ready for the season and went to replace the seals on my Yamaha F225 TURA motor and ordered new seals and o-rings etc, received parts from Yamaha and noticed major problems with new parts and end caps, call Yamaha and spent the last week working with Yamaha but to no avail, sent pictures and measurement to there engineers. They said that Yamaha is superceding part numbers but sent the info about parts to them and they informed me that they just don’t see a problem. End cap dust seal recess measurements and even the snap ring groove to secure seals, they say even though the new seals are larger diameter that the old seals (1.103 old recess with a depth of .325 and the new cap diameter of .984 new cap recess with a depth of .198 and the retainer ring on old cap at the top new cap retainer groove on the bottom of seal recess. Yamaha did confirm that it was the correct replacement part.

Been thinking about replacing engine on my 248 from a single to twins 125 or 140 all I know is that Yamaha will not be a choice after working with the engineers at Yamaha, has anybody worked with Honda or Suzuki engineers

If you’re only up for deciding between Suzuki or Honda only, I’d go twin Suzuki 140’s with their digital throttle controls. They’ll weigh the least at around 410-420 lbs a piece. If you’re considering other brands, Mercury makes their FourStroke series 115 and it only weighs 359 lbs a piece. I haven’t dealt with either, though a buddy does have a Suzuki 140 on his boat and loves it.

Did you get new end caps and if so, is it possible that the new seals fit new caps but not the old?
