Last year my port tach/trim indicator failed. Replaced it with a tach my dealer had on hand, not new.
The tach failed again. Any suggestions before I buy a new in box tach?

Will you define "failed". Is everything dead, nothing lit up? Do you get anything on the screen? I would start with all the ground wires and make sure everything is tight.

if u r talking about the trim bars, it is not the tach!

Obviously the first thing to check is if there is power getting to the gauge. Second is to make sure the ground is good. There is a 10 amp fuse in the wiring harness according to my documentation but I don't know which end ( helm or motor) that is is near.

If you have Command Link, the fuse should be somewhere between the key and gauges. When I had a problem and had to trace it down, the fuse was behind an access panel under the helm station (258 journey).

The fuse though is power for all gauges. If only one gauge is down???????????

Behind the gauges, each one (tach/Trim 1 or 2 and Speedo ---) plugs into a bus - maybe a problem with wiring there?
