Hello,

I am looking at a used 2016 F300 in the boston area. Any recommendations for a Yamaha Mechanic I could pay to look at the motor? It is not in the water/on a boat.

If not, anything I should look for? I am mechanically inclined but thats been working on my ox66 250 which is a lot easier!

Thanks,
Greg

It would be in your interest to have the motor run. Any decent marina/marine repair shop should be able to set that up. While the motor is powered, the ECU data should be dumped and looked at. I would at a minimum have the exhaust stack inspected, the lower unit oil drained and checked for condition and contamination, a pressure/vacuum test on the LU, compression test, possible a leak down test, general inspection of the power head including pulling a thermostat to check for water passage buildup
