Bait Table / Fillet Table

How many of you guys have bait table on or over the transom?
Mainly interested on how folks with a single outboard and a notched transom have a table set up back there.
I've been using two plastic rod holders screwed to the vertical wall, port and starboard, then 1 1/4" PVC pipes inserted in them. I made flanges that are bolted to the bottom of the bait board that I just slip onto the PVC pipes. This was a prototype setup, but I have been using it for 3 years !!

Time to step it up. I wish I could weld aluminum -

Holy cow, @Lite Tackle you have that boat tricked the heck out!

I honestly cannot stand the door at my transom. I think it would be so much nicer being solid and having one really long fish box along the transom, with a cutting board top. As it is, I think there is a built in cutting section, at least that is what it looks like they used, there. I also am not a fan of the transom seat. I would prefer...again, a large ice chest.

Yes, I know.. it holds a case of beer or cokes etc.. heh. anyone else have one of those friends that lives on Diet 7up 3-ltr bottles? Yea.. no-one else drinks it but him so... letting him bring a chest and strap it in the back.

Anyway, back to the OP: I have seen some people with really cool rod holder/bait cutting stations... most were crazy prices, but some were not so bad. If you have anything like Lite has there, wow.. you'd have a heck of a setup.. heh

My dad made a great setup. Just need stainless pipe, a bender, and some bimini top fittings and clamps. And also use it for a grill to put the fish on!

Lol Yeah I gotta copy his because it is nice having the bait right there vs in the rod holder in the gunnel. If anything does fall off it’s in the boat.

Wow, I like that allot. Dad did a great job. I may be copying that design. Do you recall if Their were any issues with stability? It looks like the only attachment points are at the handrails for the transom seats. Wondering if it would move around under way in rougher seas. Sits higher than mine which is nice for the back and no more dropping the dam before raising motor. Well done.

Nicely done willy. I have about the same size board but up at a good working height.

I replaced the Perko 0559DP Door Catches and it takes considerable force to flip the dam down. No worry of it falling down on accident. I do not use the Scotty rod holders mounted on board for trolling. I do use them for drifting and anchored bait fishing.

Well, finally the prototype setup is no more. I found a local guy that was able to weld up some aluminium pipe with a 4x4 flange on top and that set me up for success.
I shimmed the pole holder on the motor well vertical wall with a Starboard shim so they sit plumb.(they were canted before and looked a little shabby). Into those I slip 1-1/4" PVC tube which gives me a nice snug fit and brings the table up to a nice working height. When I'm ready to go fishing I slide my table that has my custom aluminum pedestals attached into the PVC and I'm ready to go. Easy peasy :)

Thanks for posting all the great ideas above. Still trying to figure out how to do this and make it look good. Seems like I have to spend ALOT of money to do it right. Or weld aluminum.... I actually want it at a comfortable working height or it's not worth doing. My dad can weld but trying to figure out how to make the mounts look good and solid and not move too much when running fast. I want it to be permanent.

Do they have a way to mount it high over the livewell on a Seafarer 228? Find the cutting board is easy but the mounting at 40 " is the tough part it seems with off the shelf parts.
 
I bought the baitboard and custom fitted the legs. Installed 2 S/S rod holders and fits in there tight, easily removed if not required or for cleaning. The legs it comes with are short I used PVC pipe to extend them. The original legs fit inside the pipe .
