I’m looking to add one or two rod holders in the bow area on my canyon 306. Primary use is to hold spinning rod as we move around the tuna grounds. I do not plan to fight fish from this rod holder. Thoughts on placement and degree? I plan to buy from Gemlux.
Thanks in advance!

Take a look at the Burnewiin rod mounts and rail mount options, they are the best in the business.

Ex owner clamped on the same as Florida mike shows on mine and they work and are easy to install.

Installation need either rubber tape/hose between clamp and handrail or another system to avoid that rod holder turn down and rod goes over board. I had some success with wraps of self-vulcanizing / splicing tape or a correct size rubber hose slice open to fit over tubes just where the clamp goes and then tightened the screws hard.
I never use them for this reason but will see if i cam weld a triangle shaped plate on the rod holder to avoid that they can turn.

OP

Does you 306 have a windlass and access hatch in the center of the bow like my 2018 306 does?

I ask, because if it does, then I would consider using "0" degree rod holders on each side of the access hatch. I think zero-degree would work well, because it will be very easy to drop a rod in and pull it out 100% vertically. It would also be very accessible without having to step up on the forward seating (assuming the casting platform is not in place).

Yes, same access hatch / windless as your 2018. Good idea on location because they could drain into anchor locker. Next time at boat I’ll evaluate for clearence. Thx.
