New Grady-White Freedom 265

I’m planning to buy a 265 with 300s, is that overkill?
It may be overkill, I’m sure some testing and videos will be out soon. I felt the 300’s looked a bit out of place on the back. Talking to the guy from GW he said the 300’s weren’t even intended to be on it but dealers said they needed it with 300’s. IMG_1561.jpeg

Not long ago a 60 mph speedometer would have sufficed to sell only the 200s. Maybe a sticker on the Garmin showing a 60 mph "for reference only" would be enough to satisfy the more is never enough buyer?
250s don't improve performance much due to the weight and size of the gear case, so 300 it is. If you boat in conditions where you can nearly hit 60 in an open boat, maybe save $100k plus and buy a pontoon?

Man, that looks really cramped. Doesn't look like there is any room for those things to turn.

Yeah...I'm really not sure about those 300s.

I could have put 250s on my boat, but didn't. I have no regrets with 400 horsepower. The smaller footprint of four-cylinder engines makes for a much less cramped and cluttered transom, especially if you are in and out of the water.

I wonder if 250s will be an option on the 265.

My take is the vessel will run just fine with T200's and do whatever is requested of it. But, I am a sold fan of the 4.2 platform so if I were to move up, 250/300's would be my choice simply for that reason alone.

I almost never go wide open. My 235 with a single 300 will do 45 tops (which is plenty for me)....and my wife hates going that fast. Really don't think I'd ever do 60. I'm really looking forward to some performance videos of this with both engines. My buddy has a 27' Sportsman with twin 200s and it is plenty fast and jumps out of the hole. Still no pricing either. How much more will the 300s be?

I'm also curious how the joystick will work with those 300s packed in so tightly. It just looks so cramped.
