    Trailering Random Question

I have had an ongoing issue with trailer sway. IMO the boat sits to far rearward causing low tongue weight. Weighed the boat and trailer and found it to be 8000lbs. Using a weigh safe trailer hitch (with built in scale) I found tongue weight to 400 lbs. Too light. I have moved the winch post as...

    Replacing horn on 2003 228

I agree. Replaced mine a few years back. Failed last year. Finally went with a different style. Single trumpet horn on the roof of the hardtop. Friggin loud! We’ll see how long it lasts but easier to replace down the road.

    Replacing Forward Bilge Pump

Actually I just figured it out. Looking at the pictures of the Atwood pump, the base/screen has screw holes so you can screw the base in place. The motor/housing then snaps off. Simple solution, guess I was trying to overthink it.

    Replacing Forward Bilge Pump

The existing pump is an Atwood. I gave them the model number (which is discontinued) and the replacement number they gave me does not have a snap in base. I'm going to call them again today. Thanks.

    Replacing Forward Bilge Pump

I have to replace my forward bilge pump on my 03 Gulfstream. The outlet nipple broke off. The pump is attached to a base that is screwed in place. I can't find a replacement pump with a locking base. It seems they just sit in the bilge or are mounted to a vertical mount which is not practical in...

    Leaking Fuel Fill Hose

Indeed! My first thought was "Am I filling the boat through the rod holder?". Filled it up the other day after the repairs and everything is working fine now. I did park the boat on steep driveway with the stern low and ran fresh water through all the inspection covers into the bilge and pumped...

    Leaking Fuel Fill Hose

I had an unusual problem this past week. After trailering the boat back from vacation, I went to fill it on land before launching. As i started pumping the gas, I noticed fuel running down the back deck floor. I stopped pumping, removed the gas hose and looked down inside the filler pipe. I SAW...

    Finished!

She looks brand new! Great job. What year? Interesting story on the name. I named mine "Liberator" after the B-24 my dad flew in WWII.

No longer on the outside looking in! New (used 232)

Enjoy! She's a beautiful boat. I have a 2003 that we just took on a 60 (statute) mile trip across Massachusetts Bay to Provincetown. Rough ride going over, 3'-4' seas but she handled it like a champ. Group of 8 other boats, everyone was amazed how we handled it in our "little" boat! If you plan...

Prop pitch suggestion on 232 Gulfstream

I have a 2003 Gulfstream with the same motor. Sorry but I don't what the prop is other than it's a 3 blade SS. It was dinged up a little so I had it overhauled this winter. Before overhaul I was getting about 36 MPH @ 5600 RPM. After overhaul, just over 37 MPH @ 5600-5700 RPM. Conditions were a...

    Fold Down Bunk Capacity

Thanks Seasick. I just find it strange that GW doesn't have any kind of spec on it. Looking at the brochure that came with the boat it just lists it as 2 berths, upper & lower. If they list it as a berth it should handle an adult unless they state otherwise. I had the same thought Dennis. Just...

Hatch cover needed for transom 2003 Gulfstream. Recommendations please. Thanks!

What happened to your old one...missing or damaged? I just one of mine repaired and painted by an auto body shop (my son's). Looks brand new.

    Fold Down Bunk Capacity

Wondering if anyone has had an issue with the fold down bunk on a Gulfstream supporting an adult (under 200 lbs.). Talked to Grady and they say there SHOULD be no problem, but they do not publish a weight capacity for it. Looking at the screws that secure the straps makes me nervous. No backing...

    Heading home with my Gulfstream

Beautiful!! Looks like mine (except for the radar which I don't have). When I first read your post I thought you towed it from FL to Canada with a 150. That's a lot of boat for a 150 IMHO. Enjoy her, there's a reason this is Grady's #1 boat (or used to be). Very stable, handles the chop well...
